Component network meta-analysis of combination treatments for a blood cancer

Challenge

Large number of therapy combinations available for treatment of a blood cancer. The network of randomised trials was disconnected making the estimation of comparative effectiveness difficult.

Request

Estimate the comparative effectiveness of new blood cancer treatment given complex evidence base: disconnected network of RCTs and multiple treatment combinations evaluated

Response

A component network meta-analysis (CNMA) was conducted. Treatment effects for combinations were estimated as a function of the estimated effects for individual components. This analysis did not require a connected trial network and allowed the ‘contribution’ of individual components to be evaluated.
